Chris Pistorino is a bass player based in Philadelphia and New York City, showcasing his talents across a remarkably diverse range of musical styles — straight-ahead jazz, swing, big band, bossa nova, early and traditional jazz, classic blues and R&B, country, and orchestral classical music.

He performs weekly as both a sideman and a bandleader, heading Chris Pistorino's Contra Band, an ensemble dedicated to highlighting the works of the great jazz bassists who shaped the instrument's voice in the 20th century.

For 20 years, Chris served as the bassist for Lapis Luna — the beloved, powerhouse NYC jazz band. He co-founded Gypsy Reverie, a vibrant Hot Jazz and Gypsy ensemble, and is a founding member of The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn, one of the most energetic early jazz and swing bands in the Northeast.

As a member of the double bass section in various community orchestras in New York City, Chris has performed classical masterpieces ranging from Bach to Bartók.

A graduate of NYC's esteemed The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Chris had the honor of studying privately with John Schaeffer, retired Principal Bassist of the New York Philharmonic.
